VIETNAM GIRLS' SUMMIT IN HANOI

On 27 May 2023, the PowHERful Girls’ Summit was held in Hanoi, featuring three engaging panel discussions with insights from nine inspirational speakers. The event welcomed 250 high school female students and attracted thousands of livestream viewers.

When facing pressure from social media, MC Xuân Quỳnh shared, “In addition to self-reflection and disregarding discriminatory standards of beauty, the next step is to truly enhance our expertise. Only when we are confident in our knowledge and firmly committed to the path we’re walking, will we have no fear and gain the energy to embark on a long journey.”

These activities received enthusiastic responses from the female students who attended the event on that morning. Student Ngo Thi Thanh Thao from Van Hoi High School expressed agreement with the speakers, saying, “My family and neighbors have prejudices because I ‘cut my hair like a boy.’ But I believe that my hair doesn’t define my worth and abilities. So, I have learnt to accept myself (in terms of my appearance) and want to share my story with others so that they can have confidence, because we only live once.”
It is hoped that through the sharing and messages conveyed during the meeting and training session, the girls have gained additional motivation, as well as acquired valuable knowledge and skills to become the best versions of themselves, surpassing all barriers and prejudices.
